Catherine Miller O’Leary

Catherine (Cathy) Miller O’Leary, 80, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at her home in Pensacola, FL. Cathy was born in Chicago, IL on August 7, 1944, to George Rolfe Miller and Catherine Walsh Miller.

A fine arts major at St. Xavier College in Chicago, Cathy had a 30-year career as a graphic designer. She learned the trade at a busy print shop and at a vibrant public relations firm, then honed her skill and made lifelong friends during her 16 years at the P.R. department of the Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, IL.

Cathy loved a good story, was utterly devoted to her children and granddaughter, and cherished her nearly 50-year marriage to John. Her love of creating art carried her through his long illness as well as her own, namely through her painting and needlepoint.

Cathy is survived by her daughter Anne C. O’Leary of Chapel Hill, NC, her son Dylan G. O’Leary of Pensacola, FL, and granddaughter Malaren A. O’Leary of Albany, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Catherine Miller, her husband John A. O’Leary, Jr., and sisters Ellen M. Sedlack and Louise R. Miller.

As she wished, Cathy did not have a memorial service, but asks that friends and family raise a toast, or tell a story or joke in her honor. Memorial gifts may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, Paralyzed Vets of America, or the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls at the llinks are below
