Leslie Merle Kirksey, age 56, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on November 10, 2024. Born on June 4, 1968, Leslie lived a life marked by kindness, passion, and an unwavering love for those close to him.
Leslie was known for his wit and charm, with a humor that could light up a room—or playfully earn him the label of a "smart ass" by those who knew him best. He had an impressive memory for song lyrics and was known for knowing the words to almost every tune that came on the radio. An avid guitarist and karaoke enthusiast, he filled countless lives with music and joy.
In addition to his love for music and sports, Leslie was a self-taught Spanish speaker, always eager to learn and grow. Family was at the center of his life, especially his stepdaughter, Brooke Ellison, and her children, Maxwell and Willow, whom he adored. One of his favorite moments each day was walking to the bus stop every afternoon to greet Willow as she got off the school bus—a simple but cherished ritual that reflected his dedication and love for family.
He was also a skilled fisherman and loved spending time outdoors, often with a basketball in hand. Fishing with Maxwell brought him special joy, as did the countless moments he shared with family. Known for his huge heart, Leslie was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and spread warmth wherever he went.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Brenda Kirksey. He is survived by Brooke, Maxwell, and Willow, who will always remember his kindness, humor, and boundless heart.
A memorial service will be held at Klondike Baptist Church on December 6th at 3 p.m.
