For over 25 years, Nancy poured her heart into her work as the Director of Nursing for Behavioral Medicine at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. Her love for her job and her colleagues was palpable; she excelled in a demanding field, facing the stresses of her role with poise and a genuine smile. Resilience defined her approach, especially during hurricane evacuations when she remained calm and ever professional, ensuring the safety and comfort of her patients amidst chaos.
Nancy’s academic journey reflected her commitment to excellence in nursing. She earned a bachelor's degree from the Medical College of Virginia and a master's degree from the University of Maryland, laying the groundwork for a career characterized by remarkable service and leadership.
Outside of her professional life, Nancy had an immense passion for animals. She devoted her love to many pets, adopting dogs and cats from local rescue organizations. Her beloved dog Bruno was a source of joy, and in a testament to her thoughtfulness, she arranged for a friend to adopt him in the event of her passing.
While Nancy faced challenges in her personal life, particularly in caring for her ailing husband Frank, her spirit never wavered. Unfortunately, this meant that she couldn’t transition to her retirement home or fully enjoy her golden years, yet her devotion to her family and her role as a caregiver shone brightly.
Nancy’s family brought her immeasurable joy; her niece, Laura Bitner Fall, was particularly close to her heart. Their weekly conversations and shared experiences formed a bond that transcended typical familial ties, with Laura by her side during her final days and moments. Her nephew, Brian Bitner, as well as her stepdaughter, Marta Weil, and her great-niece, Anna Fall, along with grand stepdaughters Lexi and Courtney Weil, also cherished her presence in their lives.
The family mourns the loss of Nancy deeply, cherishing the memories created during her lifetime. They also remember the laughter and warmth shared with Harry Wayne Bitner, her late brother, and Doreen Bitner, her late sister-in-law, whose spirits will forever be intertwined with her legacy.
Nancy Bitner Ramos will be remembered not just for her professional achievements but for the love she shared, the compassion she displayed, and the unwavering support she provided to those she cared for.
