Thomas Lin Rogers

March 26, 1946 — December 19, 2024

Milton, Florida

Thomas L. "Tommy" Rogers, 78, of Milton, FL passed away peacefully December 19, 2024 at his home, with his arm outstretched to meet his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Tommy was born on March 26, 1946 in Pensacola, FL. He was the son of Fred and Posie Rogers.

Tommy was preceded in death by his youngest son, Scott Rogers, his parents, and his brother Robert Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Jones Rogers, his son Jim Rogers (Brandi Miller), of McClellan, FL,; grandchildren: Shelby Rogers, of Milton, FL, Hunter Rogers (Kymberli), of Pace, FL, JJ Gavin (Shelby Lynn) of McClellan, FL, and Ryan Brown, of Milton, FL; Tommy also leaves behind the greatest loves of his life, his great- grandchildren: Adalee, Delilah, Truvy, Sophia and Jacob. He is also survived by daughter-in-love, Ashley Darby, the fiancee of his late son, Scott. Tommy will be fondly remembered by his nephews Jason (Amy) Rogers, Pensacola, FL; their son's, Cody, Dylan and Justin; as well as numerous cousins in Tennessee.

Tommy's strong work ethic was evident from an early age when he began a paper route at nine years old. Over the years, he worked as a meat cutter and produce manager before discovering his passion for the automotive repair and tire industry. Starting as a gas station attendant and parts cleaner, Tommy's natural talent and dedication resulted in a successful career in management that spanned over 40 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Tommy's greatest enjoyment was hunting, fishing and camping with sons Jim, and Scott, along with other family and friends. It was a family tradition, and is being carried on by his son and grandchildren. In his retirement, Tommy found joy in gardening, and generously sharing his bounty with family and friends. Tommy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, pawpaw and great-pawpaw. His sharp wit brought laughter to those around him. He reveled in getting a rise out of you or at least a smart comeback. His memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him.

We would like to thank our VITAS Hospice team for their gentle, loving care of Tommy. Lindsey Johnson, RN and Becky McKnight, Respiratory Therapist, you will always have a special place in our hearts. You helped him fulfill his goal of getting outside and driving his golf cart, and electric wheelchair.  Elizabeth, Sunday, Keisha, Madison and Chaplain Andy DeGuier, thank you for your physical and spiritual support. May God richly bless you all.

Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation, please consider donating in Tommy's name, to a charity of your choice or to Captain Dan's Wounded Warrior program, St. Jude Children's Research  Hospital, The Shriners Hospital, or VITAS HOSPICE of Pensacola, FL.

In honor of Tommy's last wishes, there will not be a public memorial service. There will be a gathering of family and close friends at a later date.
